June 2, 2018: Third Annual Gulf Coast Awards
The third annual GCAs was hosted at Three Happiness Restaurant, as part of the second night of the inaugural Gulf Coast Summit. 150 people were in attendance in a night filled with live entertainment and performances from our members, as we recognized the achievements from our VSAs.
June 1-3, 2018: Inaugural Leadership & Professional Development Summit
UVSA Gulf Coast hosted the region's first Summit - a conference-style event in which students from inside and outside the region are given the tools and resources to develop themselves as leaders and professionals. Attendees were able to hear from motivational speakers, engage in educational workshops, network and participate in unity activities, and more.
The Summit's theme was "Waterlines: Rise Above," which encourages attendees to remember and honor those leaders before us, while inspiring new ideas and taking action for their future. Waterlines are physical marks on homes after floods and hurricanes, which are common disasters and times of hardship throughout the region. In addition to our history, "waterlines" represent the past struggles and problems we may have faced. Yet, we always "rise above" the challenge and come out stronger and more resilient than ever before.
March 17, 2018: Third Annual Cultural Night
All ten VSAs within the Gulf Coast region hosted booths with food and games, with live entertainment throughout the night. For the first time, Cultural Night featured a Mr. and Ms. UVSA Gulf Coast pageant, featuring one contestant from each VSA. This year's Cultural Night was once again hosted at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
March 4, 2018: Alumni & Friends Picnic Potluck
The Alumni Relations cabinet hosted its second picnic event, in which alumni and current students were invited to mix, mingle, and bond at Lafreniere Park.
November 11, 2017: Date Auction: Childhood TV Shows
For the first time in Gulf Coast history, all ten VSAs within the region participated in Date Auction. This year's theme was Childhood TV Shows. Collectively, we raised a record-breaking $18,240 for the Pacific Links Foundation.
July 20-23, 2017: UNAVSA-14 Leadership Conference
The UNAVSA-14 Leadership Conference was hosted in New Orleans, LA for the second time in its history. The Executive Director was our very own External Vice President, Thanh-Thanh Pham.
April 29, 2017: Second Annual Gulf Coast Awards
UVSA Gulf Coast hosted its second regional end of the year gala to honor and recognize the achievements from the VSAs within the region. This year's gala was hosted at The Forum in Metairie, LA with over 75 people in attendance.
March 19, 2017: Alumni Mixer
The Alumni Relations cabinet hosted a picnic at Lafreniere Park, in which Gulf Coast alums and current VSA members were invited to mix and mingle.
March 18, 2017: Second Annual Cultural Night
UVSA Gulf Coast hosted its second annual Tet event, renamed Cultural Night. The ICC representatives and UVSA Gulf Coast Internal Vice President organized and hosted this event at St. Joseph Catholic Church in New Orleans, LA. Once again the night was filled with live performances, such as singers, dancers, and poetry; fun booths with interactive games; and delicious food, like pandan waffles, shaken beef, and boba tea!
October 22, 2017: Date Auction: Fairy Tales
This was the first Date Auction to be hosted by UVSA Gulf Coast, originally created and hosted by the Asian American Student Intercollegiate Association (AASIA). The event was organized by Internal Vice President Mitchell Nguyen and his Louisiana ICC members. Hosted at Loyola University New Orleans, the theme this year was Fairy Tales. The six Louisiana VSAs collectively raised $16,527.19 for this year's UNAVSA Collective Philanthropy Project, The Catalyst Foundation.
July 15, 2016: Third Leadership Retreat
The newly-elected UVSA Gulf Coast Executive Board hosted its first event - the third annual Presidents' Retreat, renamed Leadership Retreat. Starting this year, the event was open to both VSA Presidents and Intercollegiate Council Representatives. Leadership Retreat was hosted at Loyola University New Orleans.
June 10, 2016: Fundraising Banquet
As CORR, Kent and Thanh-Thanh hosted a fundraising banquet to help alleviate costs for Gulf Coast members attending the UNAVSA-13 Leadership Conference in Boston, MA. Community members and VSA alums were invited to St. Joseph Catholic Church, with presentations about UVSA Gulf Coast, entertainment from our student performers, and food sponsored by our local restaurants.

April 24, 2016: Gulf Coast Awards
UVSA Gulf Coast hosted its first regional end of the year banquet to honor and recognize the achievements of the various VSAs within the region. The banquet took place at Chopstix Buffet in Gretna, LA.
March 14, 2016: Garden Grove Mayor Visits NOLA
UVSA Gulf Coast co-hosted a Vietnamese in leadership Q&A event alongside VAYLA and XULAVA, featuring Garden Grove Mayor Bao Nguyen and Former Louisiana Congressman Joseph Cao. Mr. Nguyen and Mr. Cao are the first Vietnamese mayor and congressman in the United States, respectively. The event took place at Xavier University of Louisiana.
February 19, 2016: Gulf Coast Tet
UVSA Gulf Coast hosted our first regional Tet event at Loyola University New Orleans, organized by the UVSA Gulf Coast Executive Board and the ten VSA presidents within the region. Each VSA hosted a booth that contained games and/or food, and live entertainment kept the night lively throughout. A portion of the proceeds from each booth went to that year's Collective Philanthropy Project - Kids Without Borders.
May 29, 2015: Second Presidents' Retreat
UVSA Gulf Coast hosted its second annual Presidents' Retreat, this time hosted at Fort Walton Beach, FL. Presidents were once again hosted to a weekend full of leadership workshops to prepare them for their upcoming terms.
October 22, 2016: Date Auction
Date Auction is an annual charity fundraising event originally hosted by the Asian American Student Intercollegiate Association (AASIA) for the past fifteen years before transitioning under UVSA Gulf Coast this year. The six Louisiana ICC representatives worked alongside UVSA Gulf Coast's Internal Vice President to organize and host this annual event. This successful event raised over $16,000 for the year's Collective Philanthropy Project - The Catalyst Foundation.
June 27, 2014: First Presidents' Retreat
UVSA Gulf Coast establishes its first Presidents' Retreat in Pass Christian, MS. VSA Presidents within the region were invited to attend a weekend together and prepare for their upcoming terms by going through workshops facilitated by UVSA Gulf Coast's Executive Board.
