The Board of Advisors is comprised of 1 to 5 members, consisting of former UVSA Gulf Coast Executive Board members, UVSA Gulf Coast supporters, which include former members, and distinguished leaders in the Vietnamese community. Board of Advisors are appointed by the Executive Board.
The Board of Advisors is responsible for the following:
- Providing ongoing support and guidance for the Executive Board
- Enhancing the organization's public image
- Clarifying, interpreting, and explaining bylaws
- Serving as court of appeals
- Assessing the organization's performance
- Provide adequate supervision of the Executive Board
2016 - 2018 Board of Advisors
Timmy Vo was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana and graduated from Xavier University in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science degree of Chemistry Pre-Med. During his undergraduate education, he dedicated his time outreaching to young leaders through various student organizations in the Gulf Coast such as Xavier University Asian Association (XUAA) and Asian American Student Intercollegiate Association (AASIA). In 2012, as the Health Outreach Coordinator of VAYLA New Orleans, Timmy focused on raising awareness of wellness and self-care to youth. He was also passionately involved with the Union of North American Vietnamese Student Associations (UNAVSA) as he continued to outreach and unite young leaders across the continent as a Collective Philanthropy Project Campaign director, Gulf Coast Council of Regional Representative, Health Disparities director of the Continental Agenda, Conference Hospitality director for Dallas, TX, and 2014-2016 Executive Secretary.
Timmy is a currently a Dental Hygiene student at the Louisiana State University School of Dentistry. After completing the program, he plans to further his education in Public Health in order to work with communities to improve oral disease prevention. Timmy enjoys finding new recipes to cook for his loved ones, catching Pokémon around the city, and hosting face masks & tâm sự nights.
Born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, Victoria Tran started off her VSA involvement in college at Loyola University New Orleans. She graduated from Loyola with a Bachelors of Accountancy in 2013 and graduated with her Masters in Business Administration in 2015. She had held various positions in Loyola’s VSA-which is known as Loyola Asian Student Organization (LASO). Her positions were, Internal Vice President, External Vice President, and then LASO’s President her senior year. She was Camp Delta’s Counselor and Marketing Director in 2013 and Hospitality Director for Camp Delta 8, moving on to becoming involved with UVSA Gulf Coast as Secretary 2014-2016.
Victoria currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia where she works as an Accountant for a Financial Exchange Company. When she is not busy crunching those numbers, she enjoys kayaking, yelping, and Starbucks. She is currently pursuing her CPA in hopes of one day to start her own Financial Consulting Service to educate and help young professionals on how to utilize their finances.
