New year, new me. Welcome to the new and improved official UVSA Gulf Coast website! With the start of this new term, and with the beginning of the school year, we wanted to revamp this website so it can be a powerful resource for all of our affiliate schools, organizations, as well regional members who want to know more about us and what we do.
UVSA South hosted its second annual VSA leadership camp - Camp Legacy - earlier this month from August 12 to August 14 at Shepard's Pasture, Jefferson, TX. Camp Legacy is meant to connect the new leaders of the Southern region and foster relationship building between the new officers and dedicated members within Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. The programming consisted of a family program, team-building activities, informational workshops, and more. We were lucky enough to have 14 Gulf Coast members attend and support our neighboring region!
Earlier this month, the ninth annual Camp Delta leadership retreat was hosted at Paul B. Johnson State Park in Hattiesburg, MS. Our very own Internal Vice President Mitchell Nguyen and Treasurer Tony Nguyen were on staff for this year's camp, as well as our fellow Cabinet members: Media Co-Chairmen Calvin and Kevin Tran, Community Service Cabinet member Adriana Sanchez, and Public Relations Cabinet member Catherine Nguyen!

UNAVSA held its 13th annual leadership conference in Framingham, Massachusetts on July 21 to July 24! At conference, Vietnamese-American and Canadian students and young leaders are invited to spend a long weekend networking, bonding, and learning. The conference aims at motivating and inspiring individuals to step up in building and progressing the community. The programming focused on leadership building, professional development, social justice, culture, academics, and many more subjects relevant to the Vietnamese-American and Canadian community. Entertainment is offered throughout the weekend with performances during the traditional culture show and gala events. Family program activities are also organized to allow attendees to network and build relationships throughout the weekend. During conference, attendees were also able to be a part of UNAVSA's Executive Board elections for the 2016 - 2018 term, as well as decide the new CPP beneficiary for the upcoming year.
