The Gulf Coast Region went to Dallas for the UNAVSA-11 conference with over 45 attendees hailing from Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. Taking place in Dallas, Texas, at the Hilton Anatole, this marks the first time that UNAVSA has been in Texas. With the work of the UVSA South Organization and the UNAVSA Committee, the conference was a runaway success. The attendees from the Gulf Coast Region learned from various workshops, watched a cultural show, voted on the next Collective Philanthropy Project, and selected the new UNAVSA Executive Board of the 2014-2016 term.

During the Gala, the Gulf Coast Region for a second year in a row raised the 3rd most money for the CPP Project of 2013-2014: One Body Village. As a region consisting of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama, we raised more than $10,000 dollars towards One Body Village. Within the Gulf Coast region itself, UNO VASA raised the most money out of all the schools and was given a plaque for their success.

We would like to give a shout out to Dat Nguyen from UNO VASA for completing his term as the External Vice President of UNAVSA for the 2012-2014 term and warm welcome to the newly elected UNAVSA secretary Timmy Vo from Xavier University of New Orleans! The UVSA Gulf Coast Board hopes that everyone who attended had a wonderful time and that we will continue to work with UNAVSA and all the schools in the Gulf Coast to further strengthen our region.
