This Is Not a Fairy Tale: Gulf Coast Raises $16K For CPP!

Once upon a time, six Vietnamese student organizations across Louisiana gathered together in Roussel Hall at Loyola University New Orleans for a night full of performances, skits, talent, and philanthropy. UNO VASA’s Khang Tong and VSOUL’s Adriana Sanchez co-emceed the event, and opened the show with a comedic introduction video portraying the six fairy tale sub-themes. In addition to announcing the talent and smoothly transitioning from act to act, throughout the night both Tong and Sanchez changed wardrobes to fit the theme.

The opening talent for the night was a collaboration dance with representation from each of the six schools – it is the very first time Date Auction has ever had an inter-collegiate collaborative dance. Our choreographers Josh Bigting and John Duong made sure to start the show with a bang and set the bar extremely high for future Date Auction intro dances. Throughout the night, LASO, TUVA, UNO VASA, VSA-LSU, VSOUL, and XULAVA showed off all their hard work with a video skit and dance performance respective to their fairy tale sub-theme. We also had volunteers auctioned off and take the stage with talents varying from singing, dancing, and cosplay.

After six school performances and sixteen auctionee acts, we were excited to announce the fundraising amount of $16,527.19. All proceeds will go towards this year’s Collective Philanthropy Project, the Catalyst Foundation. We surely had a happily ever after.
