A Very LASO Christmas

Good food, toys, and Buddy the elf could be found at Loyola Asian Student Organization’s annual Christmas Party. Each year that LASO has held their Christmas party members bring not only food for the potluck, but participate in the year’s drive. The previous year, members brought foods for Second Harvest Food Bank, and this year the drive was toys for Toys for Tots. The night kicked off with members clad in holiday sweaters and pajamas gathering to watch the Christmas classic Elf while drinking bubble tea and eating foods like crawfish madeleine, Filipino lumpia, and an assortment of holiday themed desserts.

Later on in the night, some members participated in the White Elephant event where a nerf gun was highly sought after bargained for. The night finished up with board games and Jenga while some people took pictures at the holiday themed photo booth, a LASO essential to any of their events.

“The movies and games were great, and the food was excellent,” said LASO general member Pablo Polanco. “The White Elephant was fun to watch, and the decorations were on point. I only wished for hot chocolate, but beggars can’t be drinkers!”

Last year was the first time LASO held the event, which took the place of LASO’s Thanksgiving Banquet.

“Everyone enjoyed it last year, so why not do it again?” explained LASO’s current president, Sandra Nguyen. “It’s also a little bit of stress relief considering finals are around the corner, so why not end with something more fun and relaxing?”
