The Alumni Relations Cabinet (ARC) is responsible for maintaining a relationship with UVSA Gulf Coast's ever-growing network of VSA alumni and members.
Victoria Tran | Chairwoman
From New Orleans Louisiana, Victoria Tran was heavily involved in VSA back in college, starting off as President of LASO (Loyola New Orleans VSA). During that time, she also participated in Camp Delta as camp counselor, marketing director, and hospitality director. She was also one of the founding members of UVSA Gulf Coast, serving as Secretary from 2014 - 2016. Currently, Victoria is an accountant at a financial exchange company in Atlanta and was also on the board of advisers for UVSA Gulf Coast from 2016 to 2018.
Lauren Floyd | Cabinet Officer
Lauren Floyd is a senior at the University of Mississippi majoring in Accountancy and minoring in Mathematics. Before attending the university, she had little to no interaction with Asian culture, coming from a small town called Houston, Mississippi. Growing up, she was often the only Asian in the room. During her sophomore year, Lauren joined her local VSA, the Ole Miss Vietnamese American Student Association, to learn more about Asian culture and to diversify her experiences.
After finishing her degree, Lauren hopes to find work along the Gulf Coast area, working in taxation. Some of Lauren’s interests include Korean dramas, K-Pop music, hunting wildlife, and latch-hook. In the future, she would like to visit her birthplace in the Fujian province in China and other Asian countries along the way.
Jamal Mickel | Cabinet Officer
Jamal Mickel is a Louisiana State University graduate with a bachelor’s degree in international studies. He was born in Silver Springs, Maryland, just outside of Washington D.C. But he was raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. During his college years he has been active member of VSA at LSU and attended Camp Delta 9 and UNAVSA-14.
In the past Jamal served on the logistic committee for Gulf Coast Summit. He is currently in his second year with the Alumni Relations Cabinet. Jamal currently works for the State of Texas as a benefits specialist. Jamal’s hobbies include traveling, trying new food and play video games.
Cuong Anthony Nguyen | Cabinet Officer
Cuong Anthony Nguyen is a graduate from Loyola University of New Orleans, majoring in
Biochemistry. Having been exposed to his Asian Pacific club in high school, naturally, Anthony
became interested in his collegiate VSA, the Loyola Asian Student Organization, also known as
Active, but not quite engaged, Anthony didn't really become as involved, until his junior year
where he had connected with every Gulf Coast VSA, took part in their activities, and even went
as a Date Auction Auctionee. These acts later had awarded him with Member of the Year,
influencing his decision to be a part of LASO's next e-board as Secretary to which he continued
his growing relationship with the GC VSAs.
Anthony's hobbies includes, but are not limited to Netflix binge watching, Art and Crafts,
becoming the Prince of Tennis, Dessert Making, and being the Kitchen's Iron Chef (and one of
John Nguyen | Cabinet Officer
John Nguyen is a graduate from the University of Mississippi, having majored in Accountancy with a minor in Finance. He is currently taking classes in preparation for his CPA studies. Fascinated by the corporate world, John is planning to work for accounting firms in the tax profession or investment banking for financial firms
Gaining so much opportunities, self-development, and network out of the Vietnamese community, he continues to dedicate his free time to VSA apart from work and studies. He currently serves as CPP Audit Staff of UNAVSA and Alumni Relations Cabinet of UVSA-GC. His past positions: UMVSA Treasurer 2016-2017 and Alumni Relations Cabinet UVSAGC 2017-2018. Whenever he’s free, John likes to hang with his friends, play on his PC/consoles, and nap. His favorite Vietnamese dishes are Phở, Bún bò Huế, and Bún riêu.
