Most Outstanding Graphic Media – Spring Roll Night Flyer
Designed by Yen Nguyen, Co-Historian
Please explain the idea behind this design and how it was executed. How successful does this design get its message across?
The purpose of this graphic was to advertise XULAVA’s “Spring Roll Night.” The program that was used was Adobe Illustrator. First, I chose a light/pastel colored background, mint because I wanted the graphic to feel light and fresh (like spring rolls). For the title, I used the font, “Happy Camper” and for the rest of the text, I used the font, “Geo Sans Light.” The color I used for the title is light grey to keep the text easier on the eyes. The color for the text was black to compensate for the thin font. The lotus flower was found on Google. The pictures of the spring rolls and nuoc mam was added for a fun element and also found on Google. I wanted everything to feel fresh and clean for the graphic. The design was successful because Wendy, our president, received a lot of compliments from strangers on campus about the flyer. Also, many non-members attended the event because they saw the flyer.
