Game Day took place on October 22, 2022 and had around 25 participants. This is vsouls first big event of the school year. The purpose of this event is for members to come together and compete with each other in a friendly competition. It also serves to help grow the team bond between each family as it gives the members more teamwork experience among each other. Game day was hosted at a local community park and was potluck style, which made the event have more of a community feeling. If we did not have specific supplies, we used our own finances to buy the needed supplies for each game. We posted our game day graphic on our social media platforms and mentioned the event at general meetings prior to game day.
What efforts were used to motivate and involve the organization's members?
We hyped up game day by sharing our previous experiences. Members who attended last years game day were very helpful when spreading the word. Family teams (that are created at the first general meeting) playing against each other also motivated the members to participate so they could earn the title of ‘best fam at game day’.
Did the organization overcome any challenges that arose while planning and implementing the event? How?
Since the event was held in a public area, we made sure to be there early so that we could secure a spot big enough to accommodate our members. We also had issues with game timings, but with communication, the eboard stayed on top of each other by reminding each other of times while others set up the next game. Improvising was also involved when we did not have the resources to finish our punishments. We did not have enough water balloons for a fight with all of the members, but we were able to make enough so that each member had one to throw at their designated eboard member.
