Hurricane Internship Program (HIP)

The Hurricane Internship Program (HIP) is a recent initiative to inform and guide passionate Vietnamese Student Association (VSA) members and students of what goes on behind the scenes of the Union of Vietnamese Student Association-Gulf Coast organization and to prepare them for future roles through active participation in brainstorming, designing, improving, and executing creative ideas. The program hopes to create beneficial effects on the VSA community and the Gulf Coast community through philanthropy, community improvement, networking, and professional building.

Culture Cooking Night (CCN)

Culture Cooking Night (CCN) was establish in early 2018 and is headed by the Culinary Cabinet staff of UVSA Gulf Coast. The best way to someone’s heart is their stomach! CCN was establish in order to spread awareness of asian cultures via cuisine. During each CCN, participants are able to experience hands-on learning while following along with a cooking instructor and learning about the individual history of each dish. Several opportunities to attend CCN are offered through the Fall and Spring semesters.

Leadership & Professional Development Summit

Summit is UVSA Gulf Coast's first regional leadership and professional development conference in which young leaders from across the Gulf Coast unite for three days and two nights, network with one another, learn more about Vietnamese culture, grow to become leaders within their local communities, and develop their professional skills to aid them in their career endeavors.

Date Auction

Date Auction is an annual charity fundraising event originally hosted by the Asian American Student Intercollegiate Association (AASIA) for fifteen years before transitioning under UVSA Gulf Coast in 2016. Date Auction is planned and organized largely by our Intercollegiate Council (ICC).

During the night, all ten (10) affiliate schools in the Gulf Coast region gather together and each performs a dance/skit and presents a video according to some theme of their choice.

Gulf Coast Health & Wellness Initiative

The UVSA Gulf Coast Health and Wellness Initiative was spearheaded in 2020 by the Culinary Cabinet. With the rising numbers of those affected by public health issues, the UVSA Gulf Coast Health Initiative hopes to counter those numbers by updating the community with the latest health topics, encouraging a healthier lifestyle, provided support for those on their fitness and health journey. We encourage members of the community to share their everyday fitness routines and updates! Be sure to tag us at #UVSAGCHealth!

Gulf Coast Awards (GCAs)

The Gulf Coast Awards (GCA) was created in 2016 to honor and celebrate the accomplishments of the Vietnamese Student Associations within the Gulf Coast region. Each of the categories were chosen with careful consideration based on their relevance and importance to the VSA community. The awards are presented at our end of the year banquet in which VSA Executive Board members, both incoming and outgoing, and their general members are invited to eat, mix and mingle, witness live entertainment, and celebrate their collective accomplishments from the year.

Leadership Retreat

UVSA Gulf Coast's Leadership Retreat started in 2014 as "President's Retreat." The original Executive Board created President's Retreat as their first big, staple event in which Gulf Coast VSA Presidents were invited to attend a weekend retreat to bond and get to know one another, network, learn from workshops presented by the Executive Board, and have fun! In 2016, UVSA Gulf Coast expanded Leadership Retreat to include the Intercollegiate Council (ICC). In 2019, UVSA Gulf Coast further expanded Leadership Retreat to include ALL Executive Board members for affiliate schools across the Gulf Coast region.
