Romantic Steak Dinner for two

(GC Culinary Valentine Special)

Serves 2 people

Ingredients

For the chimichurri:

  • ½ cup olive oil

  • 2 tablespoons

  • red wine vinegar

  • ½ cup parsley

  • chopped 4 cloves garlic

  • 2 tsp red chili flakes

  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano

  • 1 tsp salt

  • ½ tsp black pepper


For the asparagus:

  • 1 lb asparagus

  • 1 lemon

  • 1 tsp salt

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • 2 tbsp oil


For the steak:

2 New York Strips or cut of your choice

1 tbsp salt

½ tbsp black pepper

2 tbsp butter

2 tbsp oil

2 garlic cloves, minced

 

Preparation

Chimichurri

  1. Add all ingredients to a blender and mix together. (or use mortar and pestle, as seen in video)

Asparagus

  1. Zest lemon to get around 1 tbsp worth

  2. Juice lemon, set aside

  3. Add salt, pepper, and ½ tbsp lemon zest to asparagus

  4. Either roast in oven or stir fry on frying pan, on medium heat

  5. Saute asparagus on a pan until softened. Cover for about 3 minutes

  6. Turn off heat and add lemon juice and remaining zest

Steak

  1. Heat butter and oil in pan on medium high heat

  2. Season steak with salt and pepper on both sides

  3. Add steak to pan, cook for 5-7 minutes on both sides

  4. Add garlic

  5. Continue to add garlic butter/oil on top of steak as it cooks

  6. Let it cool for 10 minutes, slice into bite size pieces and enjoy with asparagus and chimichurri
