Why do you want to be on the Executive Board for UVSA Gulf Coast?

I want to be on UVSAGC Eboard because I want to step up and give back to VSA on a wider horizon. Ever since my freshmen year, I've been given the opportunity to watch the VSA community grow and been given positions to help that growth. VSA became a home away from home and gave me the chance to meet so many people. I love organizing events to network people. I also want to be on board to grow as an individual but also become an even stronger leader. I want to be on board to help inspire the next generation of leaders to also step up and continue the longevity of VSA.

What makes you a qualified candidate for this position? 

I am observant, highly organized, and good communication skills. I can help keep track of schedules and deadlines efficiently. I can compose professional emails, draft reports, and handle correspondence effectively. I can also handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

What do you believe to be your greatest strengths and weaknesses as a leader? Please explain:

Strengths:

1. My biggest strength is that I am detailed orientated . Before initiating, I like to plan everything out before to stay organized. I try to make sure nothing goes pass me without errors. This strength enables me to listen carefully to everyone's perspective and take their views into consideration before coming to a verdict.

2. I can be well composed and adaptable. Organization and adaptability to me goes hand in hand that shapes me to the type of leader I am. Schedules, deadlines, etc., I can set them up and plan everything out and leave room for flexibility. It also allows me personal growth to fix my mistakes and improve as a leader and individual.

3. Creative because I tend to think outside the box. I think of all the possibilities and pathways possible.

Weaknesses:

1. My biggest weakness is that I don't express myself whenever I see a problem that involves myself. For example, if I see a problem in the dynamic of the board that I don't agree with, I don't say anything because it (to me) is only problem. If the problem and no one else's, I deal with the problem myself.

2. I don't make decisions fast enough because I take too. much time thinking about everyone's opinion when I see all perspectives

3. I sometimes don't reach out to others whenever I need help. When I'm given a task, I always feel the need to do the task I'm assigned alone

What is your vision for this position, as well as for UVSA Gulf Coast?

My vision for this position is to create an even stronger presence and help raise passion for VSA. From what I've observed, VSA is going through a shift where later generations are not too passionate to become involved. I want make a stronger bridge between the schools and inspire more people connect with each other. The result I hope to see at the end of my term are new faces, lasting longevity of GC, and a bigger community.
