APPLICATION RESPONSES

Why do you want to be on the Executive Board for UVSA Gulf Coast?

My primary goal for applying for UVSAGC’s executive board is to help the existing VSAs and those involved to continue to grow. The community is a loving place with multiple opportunities for anybody interested in joining and I hope to contribute to it. My journey within VSA has allowed me to meet so many wonderful people, experience so many different events, and grow into who I am currently. By being on board, I hope to give back to the organization that I found family within. There’s so much that can be down in the background to help those in the Gulf Coast prosper and I want to be at the forefront of helping make it happen.

What makes you a qualified candidate for this position?

I believe that I am a qualified candidate for this position due to my passion for the GC region and my utmost goal of helping the region grow and prosper. I’ve traveled to all of the different schools within the region, and gotten to know individuals at every school. I’m familiar with the inner working of the boards and the current/potential struggles they may encounter and can assist the future generations of VSA grow into who they want to be. My experiences on different positions and willingness to help are definitely reasons why I believe I qualify.

What do you believe to be your greatest strengths and weaknesses as a leader? Please explain:

My greatest strengths as a leader are: being reliable, being willing to listen, having the ability to stay on track, and my willingness to ask questions. These are all attributes that have helped make me a great leader and have allowed me to make sure the goal set is always met. My greatest weaknesses as a leader would be my lack of tact occasionally and my tunnel vision. I can get very focused on whatever I set my mind to that sometimes I overlook the smaller details or alternatives and I’m often straightforward which can come across as blunt. It’s good in some cases but can also cause issues when not addressed.

What is your vision for this position, as well as for UVSA Gulf Coast?

My ultimate vision is to successfully help the current VSAs grow and to help the VSAs have a voice in what they would like to see in the region. I want to help the VSAs’ presence to continue to grow and to create an environment that allows for others entering the community to feel welcome. The region has so much potential and so much love that is waiting to be showcased. I want this region to thrive and for those who came from the region and enter their adult lives to be proud of the community they spent time in during their college years. I want to bridge the gap and expand the connections we currently have about our heritage and our local communities. My vision for GC is one of family and warmth.
