APPLICATION RESPONSES

Why do you want to be on the Executive Board for UVSA Gulf Coast?

VSA has given me opportunities to grow within myself and with the community. I want to continue my involvement and help guide others find their passion in VSA.

What makes you a qualified candidate for this position?

While onboard the Council of Regional Representatives (CORR), I was able to work with other representatives from other regions and discuss a variety of topics that can help better any local VSAs or the region. The position taught me to be very observant for any problems any local VSAs might have, and it taught me to remain positively curious that another region may have or find a solution for that problem. Another lesson I have learned from being CORR was to be honest with myself. If I was busy or was stressed, I would take that into consideration and took a break when I needed it. Focusing on mental health is really important!

With these skills, I believe I am qualified for this position. As External Vice President, I will continue to observe our affiliate schools, bring light to any problems they may have, and help them find solutions for them.

What is your vision for this position, as well as for UVSA Gulf Coast?

As External Vice President, I want to provide a strong support system for the local VSA presidents. Being Senior Advisor for LASO has prepped me for this role. Every question asked, I answered to the best of my ability; if I could not give an answer right away, I would respond back after I could help find a solution that best fit.

For UVSA Gulf Coast, I want to be able to continue making a name for ourselves. We are still a new and young region, so not many people know who we are. I want to work on getting more people interested in internal activities. I also want to increase general members’ interests in participating in out-of-region events, such as conferences and camps. Whether it be in-region or out-of-region, both experiences helped me grow personally, and I would love to have others experience the same. There are other organizations that UVSA Gulf Coast can collaborate with, which can help increase involvement and even culture (collaborating with APAS).
