Please explain the idea behind this design and how it was executed. How successful does this design get its message across?
The idea behind this design was to create a graphic that highlighted valued parts of Vietnamese culture, with a modern design subtly incorporated to the look to appeal to a wide variety of people. Key features of the design include include: A dragon representing the designated animal according to the 2024 Lunar New Year calendar, a woman adorned in traditional Vietnamese attire (ao dai and hat), imagery of two people on a river boat, a lucky rabbit, symbols of a rice bowl and fish, a Lunar New Year paper lantern, architectural motifs inspired by Vietnamese temples, and two Vietnamese proverbs translating to: “We are brothers and sisters in a foreign country” and “Sunshine always follows the rain”. The T-shirt design incorporates a tiger on the front pocket to honor the LSU Tiger Mascot, Mike the Tiger, to acknowledge affiliation with the respective school. Additionally, there is a QR code included on the graphic that provides access to a Google Drive containing photographs from club events during the 2023-2024 term.
