ISSA Fund Week involved a series of events that happened right before UVSA Gulf Coast Date Auction. Each day would bring a unique event that would raise money for our auctionee. We had flyers all around campus and at each of our events we held that week.
Are you craving cookies, brownies, or some other spooky treats? Day 1 and Day 2 involved a Bake Sale where we had volunteers from our organization help make goods. Our focus and theme for the two days were focused around Halloween since we were nearing that day. The treats we sold were encased in Halloween-themed bags which really brought out the essence of spooks. Although we had two bakes, Day 1 was more focused toward students living on campus while Day 2 was focused more on the commuters of the school. Day 2 was very successful, we sold out within hours of the sale.
Craving Asian/Cajun fusion and want to support VSOUL at the same time?! Day 3 was a Give Back Night where we teamed up with a local restaurant known as CASIAN. This event was an all day event and 25% of all proceeds that day were given to us to give to our CPP. We also had a general meeting in the midst of this all to really bring out the passion of our members and to talk about what was going on this week.
Craving boba but can't leave your studies? Day 4 involved a sponsored boba sale with Kung Fu Tea Lafayette. We had workers from KFT affiliated with VSOUL as well as alumni help us deliver tea from KFT. In addition to listening to the needs of students, we even implemented a boba delivery system that involved workers of the event to deliver boba to students.
What efforts were used to motivate and involve the organization's members?
We needed to get our auctionees pumped up for Date Auction. Instilling hype helped our auctionees go a little out of their box and strive to raise money. We definitely did not want to put too much pressure on the auctionee so we felt the need to help them out a bit.
How did the organization overcome any challenges that arose while planning and implementing the event?
A few challenges we had to overcome were working schedules. As students, each eboard officer has obligations toward their studies. Finding a right balance was necessary for our success. In addition to finding the right balance, we had members who wanted to support us which really helped us find the help that we needed.
