This video was used as Ole VASA’s submission for Date Auction. We wanted to follow the footsteps of previous skits VASA has produced. Originally, the “Dragon Ball” anime was picked solely to use the phrase, “Dragon these balls across yo face!”, but as we continued to write the script, we decided that we wanted to implement a positive spin on the message and have Vegeta learn a lesson that could be applied to today’s materialistic culture. We wanted to keep the script easy to follow but worth watching over a few times. The costume design was not lazy but done on purpose. When the hair of the characters only had one sheet of colored paper, we figured it would be funnier than to have a serious look. We tried not to have the skit take itself too seriously, and during the making of it, we were laughing and having a good time.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
Jasmine Nguyen, an intern of Ole VASA - “As we were watching the premier for the Date Action skit during a general meeting, me and all of my friends were waiting for the Dragon these balls joke, and it didn’t disappoint. Top 10 satisfying anime moments.”
